What is Hatha Yoga?
People tend to think of yoga as a form of physical exercises or poses (a.k.a. Asanas) and breathing techniques (a.k.a. Pranayama). I believe there is more.
We live in a frantic world right now. Whether you like it or not, the pace of your life will continue to increase day by day. Stress, anxiety, and health issues will become our daily partners if we do not calm ourselves down from within.
Many years ago, I was taught this statement, “From within, so without.” It means our wellbeing comes from within. It is something we can work on despite all the noises in our daily lives outside.
This is where I believe the ultimate aim of Hatha Yoga is – Peace within. When you become aware of a connectedness with all the other elements in the universe, you will feel so profoundly at peace within yourself. Isn’t this what we all wanted?
Yoga originated many thousands of years ago in India. It is now practiced across the world with 70% of them are women. It started all with men and now women have become dominate practitioners.
It is due to its history and proven health and wellness benefits that I have decided to provide FREE yoga classes for all VR members of Victoria Rose.
It is true that there are many different types of yoga in the marketplace – Bhakti Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Hot Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Power Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Yin-Yang Yoga, etc.
These various forms of yoga can be confusing at times, especially to those who are beginning to travel the yoga path. Each path of yoga serves a different purpose in your yoga journey.
Don’t jump into any yoga type that comes to you.
Study each type of yoga path you want to take, read books on it, seek out the best teachers in the yoga path you have in mind, observe the teacher’s attitude and behaviors in her teaching environment, ask her students for feedback, etc.
As for me, I have read many books on Hatha Yoga and decided that Hatha Yoga is the way to go for me. I am also blessed to have Hwee to teach our VR members Hatha Yoga.
Currently, VR members can book their Free Hatha Yoga classes on our website with Hwee as our teacher. In time to come, we will have different paths of yoga in place for our VR members to serve their varied needs. Have patience with me, OK?
Personally, I feel all yoga types are good in itself. You just need to know yourself and the type of yoga path that suits you best and stick to it.
See you on the mat.
