In a nutshell, fat loss, as the name implies, refers to losing only excess fat from the body. While weight loss is the overall drop in weight due to loss in muscle mass, bone density mass, and water from the body, etc.

When people are trying to lose weight quickly, they typically go on a weight-loss diet to help them in their weight loss journey. They would weigh themselves regularly on a scale expecting a drop in their weight and they usually get it.

However, this drop in their weight only tells them how much weight in terms of muscle mass, bone mass, and water they have lost in their body — not how much fat.

Losing fat is far more beneficial than losing water or muscle or bone mass, so it is helpful to be aware of body composition and how it affects health.

Our body composition is unique and therefore there is no “one-size-fits all” weight loss diet. We must be very careful of any side effects before using them.

Personally, if you want to lose weight in the healthiest manner for your body, you need to concentrate on losing fat, especially visceral fats via slow exercises like brisk walking, yoga, Pilates, and strength training.

By keeping your body fat percentage in the healthy range for your age and body type, you can reduce the likelihood of obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, etc.

May all live a better, healthier, and happier life.
